Analysis of Social Media Platforms: Is the evolution of Instagram better or worse for young adults?

My project will be on social media platforms, specifically Instagram, and the effects it has on young adults. With social media platforms constantly updating their features, individuals of various demographics are actively staying engaged with an online community. There are also mixed opinions of the effects it has on young adults and their personal development. Having personally used many online platforms, I believe it is important to understand the negative and positive effects of using these platforms before an opinion can be absolutely solidified. At the same time, I understand that people are changing their opinions based on what is currently going on with the online community and their perspective influencers.

Before I dive into the effects of using Instagram on young adults, I will be exploring the evolution of this platform and how the creators use different technological advancements to enhance the platform. For example, by creating “Insta Stories”, people are more connected with the individuals that they follow. At the same time, to understand the effects Instagram has on the public, there needs to be an understanding of the platform’s evolution. With each discussion of an advancement, I would also speak about the negative and positive effects it had on young adults. The project will be more in-depth and include more points than the ones that were discussed in this brief summary.
